Vegan Indie is run by Ant McKenna, from Kabi Kabi Country on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland, Australia.
Ant has been vegan since 2016. He is a musician, a music industry development worker and an industry leader, which means a lot of time travelling for gigs and festivals, in meetings about building the industry and more.
Being involved in music for Ant is as natural as living without animal products.
That’s kind of the point of this site.
Vegan Indie exists to show off the musicians, actors, dancers, visual artists, comedians, writers, cooks and spaces who are making good work and living this way at the same time.
Nobody gets convinced by a pamphlet. People change their minds when the gig is great and the person on stage turns out to be vegan and having a better time than they are.
So this is a gig guide, a culture guide and a connector. It starts with Australia because that is where Ant lives and where the network is, and perhaps it will grow from there.
